Description

High Peak Pump House, built in the early 19th century, is constructed of rusticated ashlar. The main block features three boarded-up windows with voussoirs and pedimented ends, each adorned with a tall moulded pilaster doorcase topped by a cornice hood. It has a stepped frieze, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course, all covered with slates. Inside, it houses a notable pumping engine from 1849, made by Graham & Co, Milton Iron Works. Attached to the west side is a low single-storeyed boiler house, which has two boarded-up arched windows and pediments on the sides, each enclosing a circular window, with two similar windows located below.
