Description

The summer house in the garden of Number 7 on Church Street in Ashbourne dates from the mid-18th century. It is designed as an apsidal garden alcove, set into the rear brick garden wall and accessed by a stepped path. The structure is made of stone and brick. The front features rusticated stone pilasters on either side of a moulded stone alcove arch, with plain arch piers and imposts. Inside the alcove, there is a small area of plaster that still shows traces of blue decoration. However, the cornice and several stones have fallen from the right-hand pilaster.
