Description
Thatched Cottage is a pair of cottages from the 17th century that have been combined into one building. It features a timber frame that is mostly encased in brick and has a thatched roof with brick gable end stacks. The cottage is single storey with garrets, but now appears as a single storey structure. The south elevation has two bays, with an off-centre doorway and a blocked doorway to the right. The entrance has a plank door and is flanked by modern two-light casement windows with diamond lights, all under flat arches. Above the left window, the wall plate is visible beneath a blocked eyebrow dormer. The west gable end displays a cruck truss with a collar, tie beam, and queen struts. Originally, it consisted of two 'one-up, one-down' cottages, but the first floor has been removed and replaced with a false ceiling set higher. The roof includes purlins and arched braces.
