Description
The bridge over the mill tail of Longford Mill is a road bridge built in 1842 for Thomas Coke, Earl of Leicester. It is constructed from red brick with stone dressings. The bridge features a central stiled semi-circular arch, which is supported by stone piers and has raised stone voussoirs and a keystone. On either side of the central arch are smaller arches that are similar in design. The brick spandrels are complemented by a raised plain stone band, and the brick parapets are topped with cambered stone copings. At each end of the bridge, there are brick piers with large coping stones. This bridge is one of a pair built by the Earl of Leicester.
