Description
Cromford Station, located on Lea Road, was built around 1860 and is attributed to G H Stakes, who was the son-in-law of Sir Joseph Paxton. This single-storey building is constructed of ashlar and features a long range with 11 windows in total. The windows are pairs of sashes without glazing bars, equipped with sloping sills and chamfered architraves. An ornate door hood is supported by decorative pierced cast iron brackets. The building has a hipped slate roof, with the central section slightly raised, and includes a moulded eaves cornice and stone stacks. The station is no longer in use. Cromford Station's main building, footbridge, building on the east platform, and Station Master's house together form a cohesive group.
