Description

4 St John Street is a mid-19th century stucco building. The main block is three storeys high, with a two-storey, one-window wing on its left-hand side. The front elevation has three sash windows to the main block, plus one blocked window with a splayed return on the right-hand side; all windows are set within moulded architraves. A doorway on the splayed return features a moulded architrave with a segmental head and a fanlight. The building has bold, moulded eaves and a roof that is part tiled and part slated. The returned side, facing The Causeway, has four windows. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 4 to 14 (even) and the Former Wirksworth Maternity Home.
