Description
Church Lodge is a lodge cottage dating to circa 1828, designed by L N Cottingham. It is constructed of painted brick with decorative timber studding applied to the exterior. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in stone slate, featuring wide overhanging eaves supported by large pierced brackets, cusped wavy pierced bargeboards, and a central rendered ridge stack with decorative pots. The building is single-storey with attics, arranged over two bays.
The west elevation features a long, gabled porch with elaborate bargeboards, a zig-zagged semi-circular arch at the front, and open sides with turned baluster rails. To the west of the porch is an advanced gabled bay with a canted oriel window under a sloping slate roof. Casement windows are present on all sides, each with fixed, diamond-leaded lights above high transoms. The north gable wall incorporates a false bracketed oriel attic window with leaded lights, while the south wall has a canted bay window extending through two floors.
