Description
This is a churchyard cross located 21 yards southeast of the porch of St Chad's Church. It dates from the 15th century and was restored in 1897. The cross is made of sandstone and features a large square plinth with three steps. Atop this plinth is a tall square base with chamfered corners, leading up to an octagonal stone shaft, of which the upper part was replaced in 1897. Above the shaft is a 19th-century Latin cross with ends shaped like seaweed. On the east side, there is a figure of a saint on a carved corbel, which is set under a cusped ogee arch.
