Description

The bandstand at Queen's Park, dating from the late 19th century, is an octagonal structure. It features a rusticated stone plinth from which slender cast iron columns rise, adorned with low relief, foliate moulding on their shafts. The columns have composite capitals that support iron braces, which hold up the roof frieze, complemented by open iron moulding beneath. The bandstand has a pagoda roof with a finial, extending forward to create wide eaves. Inside, there is a ribbed ceiling and a cast iron balustrade with round arches and ball finials at the interval piers. A glass draught screen runs on a track around the inside of the stand.
