Description
Lilac Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located on Main Street in Palterton. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and quoins. The roof is made of plain tiles and features gable stacks, coped gables, and moulded kneelers. The building has three storeys and the west elevation consists of two symmetrical bays. There is a central doorway with a plain ashlar surround, and the panelled door is recessed. This doorway is flanked by windows under wedge stone lintels, which were originally fitted with glazing bar sashes but were boarded up at the time of the re-survey. Above these, there are two similar window openings, one of which retains a 19th-century sash. There are also two smaller, similar windows above. Attached to the west is a low garden wall with stone copings, rounded gatepiers, and an iron gate.
