Description

This is a double tombstone located 1 metre east of the south porch of St Werburgh's Church, dating from around 1734. It is made of gritstone and features twin semi-circular headed stones that stand approximately 2 feet high. The east-facing sides of the stones are inscribed, with the inscriptions flanked by incised fluted pilasters that have moulded capitals. The tombstone commemorates Richard and Hannah Brown, who died in 1719 and 1734 respectively.
