Description
Rowthorne Lodge is the north lodge to Hardwick Hall, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and quoins. The building features a hipped stone slate roof, which has a lateral ashlar stack and moulded finials. There is a moulded band at the first floor and an eaves cornice. The lodge is designed with a square plan, set at a lozenge angle, and consists of one and two storeys. Each elevation includes a 2-light stone mullion window with a squared stepped surround. The lower wing on the south side has a doorway with a chamfered surround, a plank door, and a rectangular overlight.
