Description

The former Infants School and attached house, now serving as a community centre and residence, was built in 1883. It is constructed from coursed squared rock-faced limestone with sandstone dressings, featuring plain tile hipped and gabled roofs adorned with ridge cresting and five prominent stone stacks. The building consists of a single-storey school section and a two-storey house.

On the south elevation, there is a gabled bay with two large cross windows. To the right, a porch bay is set back and features a half-hipped roof and a moulded pointed arch. The east elevation has a bay set back to the left, which contains a four-light casement window that illuminates the porch. To the right, there are two projecting bays with half-hipped roofs, each with large rectangular windows that include glazing bars. The entrance bay is recessed, with the roof sweeping down over a single-storey porch that is gabled and has a moulded four-centred arch. The entrance features a pair of plank doors with an over light, flanked by narrow single-light windows.

Further to the right is a broad projecting gabled bay with a pair of tall rectangular windows and three ventilation slits above. There is a recessed bay with a three-light casement window, followed by the house's projecting bay with a hipped roof. The ground floor features a large four-light casement window with a segmental relieving arch above a stone lintel, and a two-light window above it, which rises into a dormer with a hipped roof. To the right, there is a recessed entrance bay with a lean-to bracketed hood, a single-light window to the right, and a two-light window above.

The property is enclosed by walls and railings attached to the east, which feature chamfered stone copings, are intermittently stepped down, and are topped with iron railings.
