Description
No. 44 High Street is an early 19th-century farmhouse and barn that features a continuous roof. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles, and there is a ridge stack along with a rear gabled wing that has a gable stack. The building stands two storeys tall and is positioned sideways to the street.
The street-facing side has two bays, with a two-light sliding sash window beneath a segmental arched head, and to the left, there is a similar window under a plain lintel. Above, there is a smaller similar window, and to the right, a blind window. The east elevation has four bays, with the house on the left being double fronted. It features a central doorway beneath a segmental arch, which has a plank door. This doorway is flanked by two two-light sliding sash windows under segmental arches. Above, there are two two-light sliding sash windows under flat arches, with a blind window in between.
To the right, the barn has a central cart entrance and a doorway under a flat arch to the left, along with two shuttered square openings above.
