Description

Gun Lane Farmhouse and attached farm buildings date from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century, and the farm buildings are dated 1873. The structure is built from coursed rubble stone with painted ashlar dressing and flush quoins. It features a plain tile roof with stone corniced gable stacks and stone coped gables on plain kneelers.

The farmhouse is three storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with three bays, designed in an L-plan, with L-plan farm buildings attached to the rear. The main elevation includes a central doorcase that has a moulded architrave, a plain frieze, and a simple cornice, topped with a half-glazed 20th-century door. On either side of the door, there are 20th-century casements set in flush stone surrounds with projecting sills. Above the door, there is a central single light 18th-century window flanked by similar windows that were formerly mullioned, 2-light windows. Higher up, there are two recessed and chamfered windows with 2-light casements. A raised eaves band runs along the top of the building. The left gable wall features a re-used datestone inscribed '1605 W I'.

The attached farm buildings have slate roofs with stone coped gables and ridge finials. The range at the rear of the house has stable doors beneath plain stone lintels on the ground floor, with hayloft openings above. There is a datestone on the north gable. A range at right angles to the main building has similar openings on the left and board doors on the right.
