Description

This is a cruck barn located to the south of Heage Hall, dating from the 15th century with later alterations. The barn features timber framing that is encased in coursed square stone and has a 20th-century concrete tile roof. The west wall includes a blocked doorcase on the south side, while the south gable wall has square breathers. The north gable wall has a 20th-century addition that is of no special interest. Inside, there are two large full-height crucks that rest on padstones, featuring large cambered ties, high collars, and a yoked ridge that supports the original substantial ridge beam. The barn also has staggered purlins at collar level.
