Description

Nos 37 to 40 Market Place are a row of four terraced houses dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are built from coursed stone and rise three storeys, stepping down the hillside. The houses have tiled roofs and red brick end chimneys. The end houses each feature two windows, while the central houses have one window each. The top floors typically have sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor of No 38 includes an early 19th-century shop front, complete with pilasters, a cornice, a frieze, and an architrave. No 40 features double wooden doors, and the doors throughout the row generally have plain fanlights and stone steps.
