Description
Pottery Methodist Church, built in 1812, is a stone chapel featuring an unusual swept gable facing the street. The building is two storeys high and has two windows on the first floor, which include coloured margin lights and a plaque positioned between them. There is a later added central porch. Adjoining the church to the west is a schoolroom constructed in 1878, which has a stone facade facing the street. This schoolroom also has a gable with an oeil-de-boeuf in the tympanum, two storeys, and two sash windows with glazing bars. It features a later central porch and a modern addition on the western ground floor, while the rear and side elevations are made of red brick. The name of the church reflects the history of Bourne's Pottery at Denby, which was previously located in this area.
