Description
Nos. 8 and 10 Woodside are a pair of cottages built around 1858 by William Butterfield for Viscount Downe. They are constructed of red brick with a decorative band of blue-black brick and feature a 20th-century plain tile half-hipped roof, which has a partially rebuilt brick central ridge stack. The cottages are 1½ storeys high and have four 6/6 sash windows, along with two 8/8 sash half-hipped half-dormers above. A decorative wide band on the first floor has a zig-zag pattern, with a nogged band beneath it. The gable ends have a diapering door and a one-light window to the left, and a two-light window to the right, both with a 6/6 sash above, all set under cambered lintels.
