Description
Barleythorpe House is a farmhouse from the 18th century, featuring later additions that create a T-shaped layout. The original section, which has an obscured 18th-century datestone, is constructed from coursed rubble, with a gable that has been built up with brick. The roof is covered with slate. The main part of the house is likely based on a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high. It has three horizontal sliding sash windows on the first floor, each with chamfered timber lintels. The ground floor includes new windows and an extension that also has a slate roof. There are brick stacks at the gable and along the ridge. To the southeast, there is a projecting wing finished in stucco, while the northern side features a stone wing with a hipped roof, large angle quoins, and sash windows.
