Description

Wingwell Farmhouse is an early 17th-century house situated on the south side of Wing Top Street. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a thatched roof. The house is arranged in an L-shaped plan, with the main range set at a right angle to the street. The south gable has a very steeply coped appearance. The front elevation features a fire window with a chamfered stone surround to the left, and a three-light ovolo moulded mullion window with a hoodmould to its right. A two-light casement window, renewed but in an old opening, is visible with a chamfered timber lintel. The north gable has a three-light casement window with a chamfered timber lintel. A projecting wing extends to the west, featuring a two-light plain chamfered mullioned window. The west gable wall has coping and stepped gable stones, and a two-light ovolo moulded mullioned window with a hoodmould to its first floor. Two plain chamfered stone window openings are visible at the rear. A brick gable end stack is present.
