Description
Honeysuckle Cottage is a pair of model cottages built in the mid-19th century by architect Henry Roberts. Constructed from red brick, they feature stone hood moulds and a Collyweston slate roof with a decorative brick ridge stack. The cottages are two storeys high, with two gables and a total of four iron-framed casement windows: two 2-light windows under the gables and two similar 3-light windows on the ground floor. Each end has a small 20th-century flat-roofed porch with a part-glazed door, and there are additional casements on the end gable. Henry Roberts was known for his work in improving housing for the working class, and these cottages are based on one of his designs, which were published for landowners and others to adopt. Other cottages of the same design can be found at Nos. 14 and 15, The Green. Honeysuckle Cottage is included for its group value.
