Description

This is a row of cottages dating to the mid-18th century, located on the south side of Northgate. In the mid-19th century, the cottages were refaced with red and yellow brick, likely sourced from a demolished earlier building. Numbers 8 and 10 have been painted. The roof of number 8 is covered in stone slates, while numbers 4 and 10 have modern tiles. The cottages have a cornice at the eaves and contain six windows, each with a hung sash. These windows are topped by straight stone arches with keystones and stone sills. Numbers 4 and 10 feature shop fronts from the early 19th century. The Wheatsheaf Public House and numbers 4 to 10 form a group.
