Description

The gateway to Burley on the Hill is a structure likely dating from the early 17th century. It is made of ashlar stone and features a round-arched design with a pediment above, which is topped by three obelisks. The timber gates are of a later date. This gateway leads to an avenue that once provided access to Burley House, but it is probably associated with the earlier version of the house built by the 1st Duke of Buckingham between 1620 and 1630.
