Description

Longcroft Farmhouse is a farmhouse composed of three sections, with the oldest part dating from the late 17th century, and later additions from the late 18th and 19th centuries. The main facade features three distinct sections: on the left, there is a single hipped stone bay that is two storeys high, topped with a stone tiled roof and fitted with 9 and 12-light sash windows. To the right is the 17th-century section, built of ironstone with some ashlar quoins and dressings, also with a stone tiled roof. This section includes a double-height canted bay window with a moulded stone architrave and mullions, and next to it is a 6-panelled door set within a canopied wooden porch supported by slender turned columns. There is a stack on the left-hand gable. Beyond this is a taller 18th-century addition that has three bays, constructed of coursed rubble but featuring a new roof. This section has three bays with 16-light sashes and flat timber lintels on the ground floor, two 20-light sashes above, and two dormers. The right-hand gable and central stacks are also present, along with angle quoins. The rear of the farmhouse has been faced and extended in the 19th century using brick.
