Description
The Old Rectory is a house dated 1626, located on the north side of Church Lane in Edith Weston. It is constructed of ashlar and coursed rubble stone, featuring a plinth and stone dressings, topped with a Collyweston slate roof that has moulded stone ridges and stacks at the right end and rear wing. The gables are coped with stone.
The front of the house faces Weston Road and consists of 2½ storeys. It has two sets of 3-light stone mullion windows with hood moulds. On the left end, there is a 20th-century stone porch with a door, accompanied by a 3-light casement window above it and a 3-light stone mullion window with a hood mould in the gable. The right end features a 3-light stone mullion window and a 20th-century glazed door (entrance), with two similar 2-light windows above and another 2-light window in the gable, all of which have hood moulds. Near the apex of the gable, there is a stone tablet inscribed with "W.A.F. 1626." This gable extends down into a catslide roof, which includes a 2-light dormer on the rear. At the back of the main range, there is a large two-storey wing that has additional stone mullion and casement windows and doors.
