Description
The gate piers and boundary wall to Malvern House were built in 1874 and are made of rockfaced sandstone and ashlar. They feature cast-iron lamps designed by Turner & Allen of London. On the right, there are two square piers with chamfered corners and a polychrome band, which have corner shafts at the upper stage. Each pier is topped with an elaborate cross-gabled cap that originally held a ringed lamp standard, although the lamp is now missing. Smaller and simpler piers are located on each side for the side gates. The wall along Mapperley Road is approximately 30 meters long and has chamfered coping; it once had a railing. This structure is included for its group value.
