Description

Beech Wood is a house dating to 1904, designed by Watson Fothergill of Nottingham. It is constructed of red brick with blue brick and ashlar dressings, incorporating timber framing with patterned brick infill. The roof is tiled, with corniced side wall and rear wall stacks. The house has a plinth and a band marking the first floor. The main facade is three bays wide and features a central round-arched doorway with a recessed double door and overlight. To the left is a projecting bay with a canted bay window, with a hipped roof above it, and a gabled through-eaves dormer with a three-light window. To the right is a corner turret with a conical spire roof; the lower stage is canted with two windows, while the upper stage is timber-framed and has three cross casements. Attics are accessed via a hipped dormer. The right return has a slightly projecting centre and a large through-eaves dormer. A corner angled bay window is present on the right corner.
