Description
The cascade and stepping stones at the west end of the boating lake were constructed between 1922 and 1928. Made from natural rock, the structure is designed in a U-shape and features an irregular recess that simulates a natural landscape, complete with a waterfall. At the east end, there is a curving row of large stepping stones. This feature marks the eastern boundary of the boating lake, which was excavated by engineer W.H. Radford from Nottingham. The cascade and stepping stones are part of a larger architectural scheme for a public park developed by Sir Jesse Boot during the same period.
