SK53NW UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD 646-1/6/649 (North side) Lakeside terraces and steps on north side of boating lake

GV II

Lakeside terraces and steps. 1922-28. Ashlar and random rubble. Lower terrace wall has balustrade and projecting centre and end bays. In the centre, a half-domed recess. Central terrace wall has a larger projecting centre with 3 round-arched recesses under a balustrade. Projecting end bays, each with a round-arched opening and steps. Above and behind, steps flanked by rubble terrace walls with slab coping. This building is part of the architectural scheme of a public park developed in 1922-28 by Sir Jesse Boot.
