Description

Lakeside terraces and steps are located on the north side of the boating lake and were built between 1922 and 1928. They are constructed from ashlar and random rubble. The lower terrace wall features a balustrade with projecting center and end bays. In the center, there is a half-domed recess. The central terrace wall has a larger projecting center that includes three round-arched recesses beneath a balustrade. Each projecting end bay has a round-arched opening and steps. Above and behind these, steps are flanked by rubble terrace walls with slab coping. This structure is part of the architectural scheme of a public park developed by Sir Jesse Boot during the same period.
