Description
Highfield House, located at the University of Nottingham, is a house that now serves as the vice-chancellor's residence. It was built in 1797 for Joseph Lowe and has undergone mid-19th century additions and alterations. The building is constructed of stucco and features a hipped slate roof with five rendered stacks. It has a plinth, cornice, and blocking course. The house is two stories tall and has a layout in an L-shape, with a total of 4 x 6 windows. Most of the windows on the first floor are original glazing bar sashes, while the lower floor features margin light sashes, all set in moulded surrounds. The south front showcases paired windows in the center. The returns have three windows, with the center left window altered to a French window. Additionally, there is a rear addition on the left return that includes three glazing bar sashes on each floor.
