Description
The statue of Feargus O'Connor is a commemorative statue located on the south side of the Arboretum in Nottingham. It was created in 1859 by JB Robinson of Derby. The statue is a life-size marble figure depicting O'Connor in mid-19th century clothing. It stands on a square sandstone pedestal that features an inscribed plinth and cornice, resting on a rock-faced stone base. Feargus O'Connor (1794-1855) was a prominent leader of the Chartist movement and served as the Member of Parliament for Nottingham from 1847 to 1852. This statue is notable for being the only statue of O'Connor in Britain.
