Description
The memorial to Samuel Morley is located at the south-west entrance to the Arboretum and was constructed in 1920 by J Else. It is made of ashlar and features a bronze bust of Morley on a tapered square pedestal, which is positioned in front of a larger pedestal that has a stepped top. Surrounding the bust are curved screen walls with stone seats, which end in square pedestals. Samuel Morley (1809-1886) was a notable Member of Parliament and philanthropist, and his family were significant hosiery manufacturers in Nottingham.
