Description

The war memorial and three headstones, located at the east entrance to the General Cemetery, were created around 1920, likely by Sir Reginald Blomfield. The memorial features a triangular plot of York stone paving, surrounded by a rock-faced stone retaining wall with steps on two sides. At the apex of the plot stands a standard memorial cross made of Portland stone, which has an octagonal stepped base and a bronze sword. Behind the cross is a curved wall, also constructed from Portland stone, featuring a plinth and inscribed coping that lists the names of the deceased. To the left, at the corner of the plot, are three standard military headstones.
