Description
Castle Rock Cottage, located in Brewhouse Yard Museum, is a house that dates back to around 1675. It was restored and converted in 1977. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring moulded brick dressings and a plain tile roof. It has a plinth, a first-floor band, and coped gables. The windows are primarily renewed wooden cross casements, with keystones on the lower floors. The cottage is two storeys high, plus attics, and has a symmetrical front with a renewed central door and overlight. There are two gables, each containing a three-light casement with glazing bars. Inside, the ground floor showcases exposed chamfered span beams and a fireplace bressumer. The original dogleg stair features winders and turned balusters.
