Description
Nos 36 to 42 on Humberstone Road are a terrace of four large three-storey houses built in red brick in the late 18th century. The houses are set back from the street level and feature stucco bands and a plinth. They have a modillion eaves cornice and a small parapet. Each house has nine windows with flat brick arches, sills, and sash windows with glazing bars. The two end houses have plain rectangular hoods over their entrance doors, supported by large brackets, and all houses have six-panel doors. The two central doorways are located under one semi-circular Tuscan porch, and all entrances are adorned with traceried fanlights. A wrought iron gate and overthrow at the west end is missing. Nos 36 to 42 form a cohesive group.
