Description
Nos 2-4 on Market Place South, dating from the early 19th century, are constructed of stucco and feature boldly rusticated quoins, bands, and a rusticated ground floor. The building has a parapet and a heavy moulded eaves cornice. It stands three storeys tall and has three windows, each with moulded stone rectangular architraves. The second floor windows have pediments, and there is a round-headed arch with a keystone above the central window. All windows are sashes with glazing bars, although the ground floor glazing bars are missing. The left-hand entrance features a six-fielded-panel door with a rectangular fanlight that also has glazing bars. A large stuccoed end stack with a cornice is present, along with heavy cast iron area railings. Nos 2-4 and the area railings are part of a group with the City Rooms and Extension on Hotel Street.
