Description

No 10 Hotel Street and No 1 Market Place is an early 19th-century, plain two-storey building finished in stucco. It features two and three window elevations, with the centre window on the first floor facing Hotel Street being blind. The building has large sash windows with glazing bars. Originally, there was a balcony with attractive cast iron railings that wrapped around both elevations, but this has been removed. The property has large late 19th-century shop fronts on three sides, which include fluted pilasters. The roof is hipped and covered with tarred slate. No 10, along with No 14 Knight and Garter Public House and The City Rooms and Extension on Hotel Street, forms a group.
