Description
Nos 98 to 104 on New Walk is an early 19th-century terrace built from grey gault brick with stucco dressings. The building has two storeys and a later attic storey, featuring nine windows that are separated by brick pilasters. The windows are sashes with glazing bars and flat brick arches. Number 98 has two late 19th-century two-storey splayed bays, while number 104 has one similar bay. Numbers 100 and 102 have late 19th-century square bay windows on the ground floor. There is a continuous moulded cornice below the attic storey, which is made of brick and topped with a parapet. All original doorways feature wide segmental arches with traceried fanlights, supported by two large Tuscan columns in antis beneath the entablature. The roof is a slate hipped design.
These buildings, along with the Statue of Robert Hall, Nos 1 to 11 (odd) De Montfort Square, De Montfort House in Princess Road, and Nos 77 to 97 (odd) Princess Road, form a group around De Montfort Square, with Nos 77 to 97 being recognized as a building of local interest.
