Description

This is a late 18th-century building situated on the corner of Friar Gate and Bridge Street. Constructed of red brick, it is three storeys high and features five sash windows facing Friar Gate. The building has a stone plinth and a stone band running along the sills of the first-floor windows. Two recessed entrances have rounded heads and contain plain doors, each topped with a radial fanlight. Number 2 Bridge Street, which is incorporated into the building, has three windows and a similar doorway. A recessed side provides access through a passage door. The building forms a group with numbers 27 to 32 (consecutive), Friar Gate; the railway bridge on Friar Gate; numbers 35 to 39 (consecutive); numbers 41 to 51 (consecutive); and number 47 Ford Street.
