Description

This is an 18th-century house, significantly altered over time, located on Cornhill in Allestree. The building is constructed of red brick, with some sections painted and others faced with later cement rendering. The structure is irregular and features a gabled end facing the road. It has two storeys and an attic within the gable, with horizontal bands marking the first and second floors. The windows are primarily from the early 19th century, and while some retain small-paned iron casements, others are modern replacements, and a number have been blocked. There are two plain doorways, each with a cambered head, and the building features tiling. A projecting gabled wing is situated on the left-hand side, and further later additions have been made. Local tradition suggests the building was originally a mill. Nos 11 to 19 (odd) are grouped together visually.
