Description
This house, located approximately 25 metres due west of Chapelthorpe Hall, was built around 1847 and was formerly connected to the hall by a service wing that has since been demolished. The building is constructed of punch-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay facade. Notable architectural details include ashlar quoins, a plinth, and a first-floor sill band. The entrance has a doorway with raised monolithic jambs and an overlight, flanked by sash windows with raised surrounds. The first floor contains three smaller windows with upper casements and gutter brackets. The roof is hipped with tall ashlar end stacks. At the rear, there is a 20th-century wooden classical doorcase flanked by tall sash windows with raised surrounds, and a single sash window on the first floor, along with a lateral stack.
Inside, the rear door leads into a stair hall featuring a dog-leg staircase with simple turned balusters. The house is included for its group value with Chapelthorpe Hall.
