Description
The police box located in the grounds of the Police Training Centre at Carr Gate is a disused structure dating from the 1920s or 1930s. It was relocated to its current site in 1982. The box is made of timber and has a rectangular shape. It features sunk-panelled sections on a plinth, with glazed panels at the top of each section that include margin glazing bars. The entrance side has a door on the right and a small door for a public telephone cupboard at mid-height on the left. The returns have three sections, and the structure is topped with a chamfered cornice and a plain frieze that displays illuminated "Police" notices. The roof is a three-step design with a light beneath a bell at the top. The police box was moved to the new Police Training Centre at Carr Gate with Listed Building Consent after 2014.
