Description
Stanley Hall is a former gentleman's residence, now serving as a nurses' home, built between 1804 and 1807 for Benjamin Heywood. The building has been altered and features rendered walls and a slate roof. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical five-bay entrance front that includes a central round-arched doorway set within a small Tuscan pedimented portico. The windows are 12-pane sashes, and there is a ground-floor sill band, a moulded eaves cornice, and a blocking course. To the left, there is an addition that is not of special interest. The garden front is also symmetrical with nine bays, where the central three bays form a bow. The windows on this side are similarly 12-pane sashes, although the central window on the first floor is blocked.
