Description
This building is a stable, granary, and dovecote dating from the 18th century, located approximately 10 metres north of Ackworth Grange. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and handmade brown brick, topped with a slate roof, and has a rectangular plan. The structure stands three storeys high, with the topmost storey made of brick.
On the west side, there are three doorways; the center and right doorways have rectangular lintels, while the left doorway features a segmental head. Between the right doorways, there is a small window. The first floor has two square openings with plain surrounds, with the left opening flanked by slit breathers. The south gable wall includes a blocked square window on the first floor, a segmental-headed square window on the second floor, and stone gable coping with returned ends.
Inside, the building contains some re-used beams from an earlier timber-framed structure, and the pigeon loft is lined with nest holes.
