Description
The Jackson Monument is a headstone located approximately 13 metres south-west of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the mid-18th century and commemorates Daniel, the son of John Jackson, a miller from Badsworth, who died in 1747 at the age of 2 years. The headstone is made of sandstone and features an emphatically scalloped top. The inscription begins with "HERE" in raised decorated lettering within a panel, and continues in elegant seriffed incised lettering. An addition commemorates Eliza, the daughter, who died in 1750. The lower part of the headstone is now buried.
