CROFTON HIGH STREET (north side, off) Grave slab and sarcophagus immediately to south of 1st bay of nave of Church of All Saints

GV II

Grave slab and sarcophagus. Possibly medieval sarcophagus, grave slab c1743. Ashlar. Sarcophagus cut from one piece of stone, tapers to foot and broadens at shoulders, narrows to head with inner recess for head. Grave slab memorial to Mary Hirst and "Richard Hepworth of Heath yeoman who died April the 21st 1743". Has good lettering and top carved with winged heads.
