Includes: No.8 OXFORD ROW. Shops and offices. Mid C19. Red brick and stone , some painted, slate roof. 3 storeys with basement and attics, corner site with Oxford Row. Gothic Revival style. Attached columns with foliate capitals flank 14 doorways and windows with pointed arches and hoodmoulds in a continuous rhythm. 6 windows to corner and 3 three-light windows with quatrefoil recesses to first floor, paired windows above. Moulded brick eaves frieze, tapering corner turret with wrought-iron crest to corner; 3 gables with circular stone traceried windows, large stacks between. Right return, Oxford Row: plainer arched doorway centre with flanking short windows and taller single and paired lights to left and right; added bay in same style to right. INTERIOR: not inspected. Part of the development of the Great George Street/Oxford Place area which was undertaken between 1850 and 1866 (map evidence).
