Description

Grange Farm Cottage is a late 17th-century farmhouse that has been altered over time. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a stone slate roof. The building originally comprised two units with a symmetrical design across two bays. Features include a chamfered plinth, which is higher at the rear than the front, and a continuous dripmould above the ground floor windows. The central doorway has a plain surround typical of the 18th century and is now protected by a modern wooden porch. There are two four-light windows on each floor, all featuring recessed chamfered mullions. A window was later inserted into the centre of the first floor. Gable chimneys are present. The rear of the building has several openings, believed to be later additions. Inside, each room has a stop-chamfered beam, and the right-hand room contains a large chimney breast with a concealed fireplace.
