Description

An outbuilding, likely a stable block, dating from around 1820. Constructed of coursed, squared, tooled gritstone with a stone slate roof, it is situated approximately 20 metres north of the main range of buildings at Shadwell Grange Farm. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, representing two phases of construction. A doorway is set in a plain stone surround to the left of the centre, and a plain lintel sits above a doorway in the right bay. There are four small square windows with small-pane frames on the ground floor, and a single such window on the first floor. A central upper loading door, also with a plain lintel, is set beneath a small coped gable which features ball finials. The interior has not been inspected. Part of a farm group dating to around 1810, the outbuilding was probably enlarged and embellished when the main house was built around 1825.
